Instructors

Ann Mony Ann Mony first started swing dancing in 2002, and has been teaching at Cat’s Corner since 2004. She is known for her highly musical styling, the clarity and patience of her instruction, and the pure joy that she exudes when dancing. Ann enjoys enriching her classes with historical jazz information, and nurtures a special place in her heart for Charleston. She is deeply committed to preserving the improvisational aspect of swing dancing, and hopes that her classes help her students become one with their partners and the music. Ann is active on the MTLX committee and is a recent addition to the award-winning troupe SwingConnexion where she is discovering the joys of being tossed upside-down.

Alain Wong Alain Wong discovered swing dancing at Montreal’s legendary Swing Ring in 2000. He started teaching soon after, and now competes and performs as part of the Cat’s Corner staff and the Swing Connexion teams, recently placing second in the Classic division at CSC 2006 with Maryse Lebeau, and second in the Classic division at ALHC 2006 with Ann Mony. As much as he enjoys the challenge of training for competitions, he never loses sight of the social aspect of the dance, which is why he continues to spread the joy of dance through his teaching involvement with Cat’s Corner, the McGill Swing Kids and the Marianopolis Swing Dance club. What do people notice most about his dancing ? His unique personal style, his positive attitude and his infectious smile. Read his dance blog.
