Here’s an alternate angle for the solo jazz steps.
This past week we got all the way to the jazz steps. Keep up the good work!
To help you remember the routine, in addition to the videos, here is my way of breaking it down. In brackets you’ll find the sum of the counts per line of choreography.
Thanks to those of you who learned it so quickly last week and good luck to those who will be joining us this week!

Here are the jazz steps. You can practice these on your own, so no excuses!
Here’s the partnered stuff that we saw in week 1. It’s a third of the choreography, good job everyone!
The song we are using is called “Look-A-There” by Slim and Slam. Here’s what I found on Wikipedia.
Slim & Slam was a 1930s musical partnership formed by Bulee “Slim” Gaillard (vocals, guitar and piano) and Leroy Elliott “Slam” Stewart (bass). They produced novelty jazz numbers featuring Slim’s distinctive vocal style with vocalese and scats, hipster argot and nonce words.
Their biggest hits were “Flat Fleet Floogie (with a Floy Floy)”, “Cement Mixer (Puti Puti)” and “The Groove Juice Special (Opera in Vout)”.
You can find the song on the album Slim Gaillard Chronological Classics 1937-1938. Actually, if you’re considering buying an album, get the Complete Columbia Master Takes on Amazon.ca for best value. It has all the best songs to dance to, like “Jump Session” and “Tutti-Frutti”.
Lindy Revue starts on Thursday September 13th, 2007.
Ann and I are really excited about this new project. We’ve already picked a song and choreographed about half of it. We’ll soon have a video posted.
